he Datura flower holds deep spiritual significance in Shiva Puja and is considered one of the most sacred offerings to Lord Shiva. According to Hindu belief, Datura is closely associated with Lord Shiva’s ascetic nature and his role as the cosmic destroyer and transformer.

Datura is offered during Shivling Abhishek, especially on Mahashivratri, Shravan month, and Mondays, as it is believed to please Lord Shiva quickly. Mythologically, when Lord Shiva consumed poison (Halahala) during the Samudra Manthan to save the universe, Datura is said to have helped calm its intense effects, making it a symbol of sacrifice, protection, and divine control over poison.
